Ripley Chile, one of the leading retail companies in South America, was established in Chile in 1986 and expanded its operations to Peru in 1997. The company also operated in Colombia between 2014 and 2016.
In 2022, Ripley made a strategic decision to partner with ENNAT to enhance the safety of its logistics operations and address the high costs associated with its protection systems. At the time, Ripley faced significant challenges related to the traditional metal barriers used in its warehouses, which incurred substantial maintenance and repair costs due to frequent impacts and operational wear.
High Maintenance and Repair Costs
The metal barriers installed in Ripley’s operating areas, designed to protect racks and other key assets, required frequent maintenance. Continuous impacts from the daily operation of forklifts and other industrial equipment not only compromised the safety of the facilities but also resulted in significant expenses for repairing and replacing damaged barriers. This situation presented a dual challenge: the vulnerability of the racks and infrastructure, coupled with the escalating financial burden on operations.
To address these issues, ENNAT developed and implemented a gradual transformation plan aimed at improving safety across Ripley’s logistics centers. The project began in 2022, using a phased, modular approach to replace the existing metal barriers with ENNAT's advanced impact-absorbing solutions.
The ENNAT Solution
The solution included the installation of ENNAT’s Standard Barriers and Rack Protectors, which provide superior protection against impacts from forklifts and other equipment. Instead of implementing a complete replacement in a single phase, a flexible strategy was adopted in alignment with the maintenance budget of each area. The project was carried out in stages, with each phase involving the replacement of 12 barriers.
One of the key successes of this project has been the complete elimination of repair and maintenance costs associated with the newly installed barriers. Unlike traditional metal barriers, which required frequent interventions, ENNAT's impact-absorbing barriers have demonstrated exceptional durability, with no maintenance required since their installation.
Measurable Results
This success has not only resulted in direct savings in operational costs but has also eliminated the need to replace racks or other expensive assets, thereby contributing to the efficiency and stability of Ripley's operations. Significantly, the budget previously allocated to repairing and maintaining the old barriers has been redirected to continue expanding the installation of ENNAT’s solutions across new areas of the warehouse.
To date, ENNAT GROUP has completed 10 phases of the project, installing over 100 barriers without any need for repairs. Additionally, no racks have been damaged or required replacement since ENNAT's barriers were installed, underscoring the effectiveness of our shock-absorbing technology.
ENNAT’s ability to provide custom, technologically advanced solutions has allowed Ripley to not only enhance the safety of its facilities but also optimize the allocation of its financial resources, freeing up funds for future stages of protection.
